What I offer

I believe that the birth experience has the potential to have a profound effect on a woman’s self esteem and the successful transition to parenthood and family for all involved.

My philosophy as a midwife stems from my trust and respect for the innate ability of a woman’s body to grow her baby and give birth. I am also keenly aware of her need to feel safe and confident before the instinctive, primal process of birth can unfold. I am there to offer information and support and to act as a safety net during this amazing time in your lives.

• Complete midwifery service offering one to one care to those wanting a home birth.

• All antenatal care carried out in your own home at mutually suitable times

• Time during appointments for in depth discussion about issues that concern you

• Support and information about all available antenatal tests

• Tests arranged through the NHS or privately

• Time to get to know me and for me to get to know you and your family, so I can offer you all the support you need at this important time in your lives

• I will accompany you to any medical appointments that may become necessary, should you wish it

• I maintain good contacts with other health professionals

• I am happy to support you if you wish to use any complementary therapies

• Should the desired place of birth or type of care need to change at any time, I can assist my clients to achieve this as smoothly as possible

• I can accompany and stay with clients in all local hospitals. My role there depends on local arrangements

• Postnatal care for 28 days (the NHS norm is 10)

• 24 hour emergency contact with me by mobile phone

• I can arrange for midwifery back up and support from other local independent midwives if required

• I regularly update my skills by attending required study days with my NHS colleagues
